Opaque HM
(Jolanda Schär, Switzerland)

The Sire is a blue marble HMPK which popped up from the HM line of Jolanda Schär and was spawned before by Nicklate, who kindly gave him to me. His strongest points are his size (without any doubt one of the biggest fish I ever had in my fishroom, with the exceptions of giants), the strong body + peduncle and the smooth mouth-to-dorsal topline. Points of attention are the finnage: Caudal outer rays could be longer, caudal corners sharper and the dorsal ideally could be a bit broader. The Dame is an F2 from my own line with a strong body, smooth mouth-to-dorsal topline, balanced balanced overall appearance and nice D-shaped caudal!
With this outcross I hope to fix the strong bodies and overall balance. The offspring (F1) will most likely be blue/red HMPKs with a chance of marbles popping up. Some fry might loose some red due to the red-loss trait.

31/08/12: The pair spawned, the nest if full with eggs. The males is taking excellent care (lower left picture)!
01/09/12: The fry hatched (lower right picture). There are defenitely 100+ fry!

02/09/12: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
07/09/12: The fry is now 1 week old and feeding well on BBS.

04/11/12: The fry is now 9 weeks old.

22/12/12: The fry are now 16 weeks old and are relatively big sized as compared to my other fish of this age. I did cull some fry due to irregular toplines, but there are some promising fish left. Here a picture of a young male I have jarred 24h ago.

10/03/13: Five males of this spawn were send to the 9th Show of the Kampffischfreunde in Friedrichshafen, Germany. One of them won a prize:
