The Sire is a non-metallic royal blue HMPK with a good bodyshape with a smooth topline. He has a nicely big D-shaped caudal fin, nice anal fin and matching single-tipped ventrals. The dorsal has a pretty good shape but ideally the base could be a bit broader and the front rays a bit longer. The Dame is a royal blue with an nice long body and smooth topline. She has an amazingly shaped caudal fin with nicely long outer rays and sharp corners. Her dorsal has a good shape, the anal fin is nicely parallel and the ventrals are of good length and volume.
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, smooth topline and balanced finnage.
The offspring (F1) will likely be darkbody non-metallic turquoise, steel blue and royal blue based HMPKs although there is a chance of lightbodied (grizzle) fish as well.

30/08/14: The pair spawned. Eggs in the nest.
31/08/14: The fry hatched. Seems to be a decent sized spawn.
02/08/14: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
10/10/14: 6 weeks old.

08/11/14: 10 weeks old. I culled a few rosetails which popped up in the spawn. For educational purposes here a few pictures showing the normal fish in the left and the rosetail siblings on the right.
