Dame: Teal mask HM PK

(Betta Territory, The Netherlands)

The Sire and Dame are siblings from a spawn which was very homogenous both color as finnage wise. The pair was selected because of their strong bodies and promising finnage. Both fish are homozygous metallic royal blue (Blbl ++, also called teal) and fully masked. mazing solid color.
The offspring (F2) will be HM PK with a chance of DTs popping up. Colorwise the outcome of this spawn should theoretically be as follows:

25% Homozygous metallic turquoise (BlBl ++)
50% Homozygous metallic royal blue (blbl ++, teal)
25% Homozygous metallic steel blue (Blbl ++, copper)

26/06/09: The pair spawned! The male is taking excellent care of the spawn.
27/06/09: The fry hatched.
29/06/09: Fry in the free-swimming stage. The Sire was removed.
30/06/09: The fry is feeding well on BBS.

15/08/09: The fry is now 7,5 weeks old and is transferred to a bigger grow-out tank. Interestingly there seem to be quite some metallic melanos among the offspring:

06/09/09: The fry is now 10 weeks old and getting more "bling-bling" as they mature. This spawn is a nice mix of homozygous metallic steel blue (copper), homozygous metallic royal blue (teal) and homozygous metallic turquoise (some with a melano black base):

06/10/09: Here an update od the fry now 15 weeks old:

27/10/09: This spawn shows some very nice metallic offspring with good finnage! Here two pictures of jarred males now 17 weeks old:

28/11/09: The youngsters are now 22 weeks old and all jarred.  Here a picture of a homozygous metallic melano:

13/02/10: Four males and two females of this spawn were send to the 14th EHBBC Show in Hannover, Germany. The two females won a prize in their showclass:
