The Sire is a metallic steel blue HMPK with a strong body and smooth mouth-to-dorsal topline. He has a nice D-shaped caudal fin a nice shaped anal fin and dorsal fin. The front rays of the dorsal fin are nicely directed forward. The Dame is a strong-bodied cambodian-based red HMPK from my own line with a balanced appearance and a nicely broad-based dorsal fin.
With this outcross I hope to fix the strong bodies and overall balance.
The offspring (F1) will most likely be blue/red HMPKs. Some fry might loose some red due to the red-loss trait.

The Dame is also mother of: BT290412A.

26/05/12: The pair spawned!
27/05/12: The fry hatched.
28/05/12: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
24/07/12: The fry is now 9 weeks old and feeding well on BBS and tubifex. Their colors seem to be blue/red although the distribution of both colors varies between fry.

05/09/12: The fry are now 15 weeks old. Interestingly, most of them have lost the red in their finnage. The finnage seems to be promising.

27/09/12: Jarred the first males.
11/10/12: Some promising HMPK males from this spawn, now 19 weeks old. I am still amazed to see that there is almost no red present in the majority of these fish. I do think there are some promising fish in this spawn to work with but there also are a few fish which show irregular toplines and quite extensive branching in the direction of rosetail. I think it is very interesting to see the difference in finnage and appearance with their half-brothers in the following spawn which has the same mother: BT290412A.

04/11/12: Some HMPK females in the grow-out, now 23 weeks old!

02/12/12: HMPK male and female, now 27 weeks old!

31/12/12: Update on some fish of this spawn, now 31 weeks old! I think these fish have a great potential to work with, despite some flaws which need improvement in the coming generations.

01/01/13: Two more males!

10/03/13: One male and one female of this spawn were send to the 9th Show of the Kampffischfreunde in Friedrichshafen, Germany. They did not place in their show categories.

14/03/13: Potential breeder female, now 42 weeks old:
