The Sire is a steel blue/red CTPK which was bred by Daniel Dekanek from a cross between a copper/red CTPK male from Axel Eywill and a female from my own red CTxHMPK cross (BT181111). The Sire shows a very strong body and although his finnage is still slightly too long, he already shows quite good reductions in webbing in all three unpaired fins. His dorsal fin ideally should have a broader base. The Dame shows a strong body, smooth mouth-to-dorsal topline, broad dorsal and slight reductions in webbing in all three unpaired fins. It is interesting to know that the grandmothers of both Sire and Dame are actually half-sisters sharing the same red HMPK mother.
With this outcross I hope to fix the strong bodies and improve the reductions in webbing. The offspring (F1) will most likely be steel blue/red combtail/CTPKs with a chance of copper popping up. Some fry might loose the red due to the red-loss trait.

17/10/12: The pair spawned, the nest if full with eggs. The males is taking excellent care of the nest.
18/10/12: The fry hatched. There are defenitely 50+ fry!
20/10/12: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
27/10/12: The fry is now 10 days old and feeding well on BBS.

08/12/12: The fry is now 7 weeks old and developing nicely. Some fry already show nice broad dorsals and already show some sign of reduced webbing.

12/01/13: The fry is now 12 weeks old. Jarred the first males. I am very happy with the bodyshape and reduction in webbing in the three unpaired fins. The length of the anal fin will remain a point of attention for the future.

15/03/13: Some males now 19 weeks old.

03/04/13: Five males and a female, now 24 weeks old.

18/07/13: My favorite male, now 9 months old.
