Sire: Royal blue HM PK

(Iven Betta, Singapore)
Dame: Steel blue
(Jolanda Wisseborn, The Netherlands)

The Sire is a non-metallic royal blue HMPK from Singapore. This mouth-to-dorsal topline ideally could be slightly smoother. The front rays of the dorsal fin are nicely long and directed forward. Good D-shaped caudal fin with sharp corners. The Dame is steel blue (opaque-carrier) HMPK which was bred by my friend Jolanda Wisseborn and became 2nd placed in the Unicolor HMPK female class at the Holland Betta Show 2013. Her strongest characteristic is the broad dorsal fin. The caudal fin has a good spread and form but the outer rays ideally could be a slightly more straight. The snal fin is nicely parallel to the body. The body is strong but ideally could be a bit longer. Interestingly there is some overlap in the background of this fish with my own line, as her grandfather from her fathers side was bred by me.
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, smooth topline, broad dorsals and balanced finnage in the offspring.
The offspring (F1) will be darkbody non-metallic iridescent HMPKs with a chance of some red wash and marbles.

14/09/13: The pair spawned. The male had great difficulties wrapping the female but luckily there are some eggs in the nest which are guarded very well by the male.
15/09/13: Some eggs hatched, seems like a small spawn with 10-15 fry.
17/09/13: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
18/09/13: The fry is feeding well on vinegar eels and BBS!
12/11/13: 4 weeks old.

05/11/13: 8 weeks old, the fry is moved to a bigger grow-out.

12/11/13: 9 weeks.

06/12/13: 12 weeks old. Spotted some fish with nice potential!

14/12/13: 13 weeks old, jarred the first male!

01/01/14: Two promising males, 16 weeks old.

15/02/14: Female with a good potential to work with, now 22 weeks old.

15/03/14: Steel blue HMPK male, now 26 weeks old.
