The Sire is a red CTPK from my own line which was started from scratch by crossing CT x HMPK. Although the finnage is still a bit too long, it already shows a great potential with a 180 degree spread in the caudal fin, a broad-brased dorsal and a nice reduction in webbing in all three unpaired fins. Besides the length of the finnage, reduction in webbing, some points of attention are the front rays of the dorsal fin which are a bit too short and the shape of the head which shows a slight dip. He shows an intense red color with hardly any traces of iridescence. The Dame is a blue/red combtail PK with balanded appearance and a slight reduction in webbing in all three unpaired fins. Considering her father was a steel blue CTPK, it is not surprising that her body shows a lot of blue iridescence.
This cross was made to further experiment with CTPKs. With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, broad dorsals and improve the reduction in webbing. The offspring (F1) will  most likely will be red with some blue wash. They will be shortfinned with a varying reduction in webbing in the unpaired fins.

13/04/12: The pair spawned!
14/04/12: The fry hatched. The fry are very small!
16/04/12: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
19/04/12: The fry are now 5 weeks old and are feeding well on BBS. Spotted some very nice dorsals.

29/05/12: The fry are now 7 weeks old and were moved to a bigger grow-out tank.
06/06/12: Picture from some fish from the grow-out, now 8 weeks old.

14/07/12: Two young males, now 13 weeks old.

02/09/12: The two CTPK males depicted above were send to the Holland Betta Show 2012 in Arcen, The Netherlands. They did not win a prize.
