(Betta Territory, The Netherlands)
Dame: Blue marble SD
(Markus Gutzeit, Germany)

The Sire is a sibbling from the female which won the 3rd place in the female iridescent class at the 3rd EHBBC show in Alzey, Germany. The Dame is bred by Markus Gutzeit and has an impressive background with some strong HM genes.
This outcross what made as an attempt to balance out the finnage from my longfinned copper line. The outcome of this spawn will be a total surprise.

11/06/05: Pair spawned.
Decided to leave the female in the tank because the male decided to eat his eggs in 2 previous attempts. Leaving the female might trigger his instinct to defend the nest.
12/06/05: Eggs hatched! The female was removed just before the first eggs hathed. The male is taking excellent care of the nest.
14/06/05: Fry in free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
16/06/05: There are about 60 fry. The fry is feeding on artemia very well.
21/06/05: Lost most of the fry due to overheating of the tank (~ 35 degrees Celsius) while I was away for a bussiness trip over the weekend.
25/06/05: It appears there are about 10 fry left.
12/07/05: They fry is now 4,5 week old and growing well on tubifex and artemia. There are both light as darkbodied fry which both show some degree of redwash.

05/08/05: The youngsters really show a broad color variety......

11/08/05: Jarred the first 4 males. They don't grow exeptionally fast but the finnage seems to start developing now. Made a picture of two males:

27/08/05: Kept 3 males and 3 females from this spawn, now 11 weeks old:

09/10/05: Two fish of this spawn were send to the 4th EHBBC show in Duisburg, Germany:
