The Sire is a Royal blue HMPK with big (indo-style) finnage. Although I like the form of the unpaired finnage of this fish, I do think the body-to-finnage balance is a point of attention. The dame is a steel blue HMPK with a good bodyshape, a smooth mouth-to-dorsal topline with nicely balanced finnage. 
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, the smooth topline and the balanced finnage. The offspring (F1) likely will be royal blue and steel blue based HMPK with a chance of red wash and marble to pop up.

12/01/20: The fry hatched.
14/01/20: Removed the Sire, the fry has entered the free-swimming stage. 

22/11/20: Relaxing view of 10 days old fry feeding on newly hatched BBS.

16/05/20:Royal Blue Black Lace and Steel Blue HMPK Brothers at 18 weeks of age.

20/06/20: The same two brothers as shown above at 23 weeks of age. These pictures clearly indicate why it is important to let your fish mature before selecting future breeders.

11/09/20: Four pictures of a royal blue HMPK female of this spawn at 35 weeks of age. By no means she is a perfect show fish, but I do see some valuable characteristics I would like to work with in my breeding program.
