The Sire a very intense red cambodian-based extended red. He was bred by my friend Michel Stokkelaar from two imported parents from Thailand. The Sire has a strong body with a smooth topline. The finnage is nicely in proportion with the body. THe caudal has a good D-shape, the anal an nice slope and shape and the ventrals have a good shape, length and volume. The dorsal is uniformly rounded but ideally could havea bit broader base and more volume. is a black lace based HMPK which was bred by Iven Bettas in Singapore. He shows a great color with only minimal iridescence and a bit of underlying red. Finnage is nicely balanced and the topline ideally can be a bit smoother. The Dame is a strong bodied darkbodied red HMPK with a nice broad dorsal base and moderate branching in the finnage.
With this cross I hope to fix the intense red color without hardly any traces of iridescence, the strong bodies, smooth topline and the balanced finnage. The offspring (F1) will be both dark- and lightbodied extended red HMPKs.

09/05/15: The pair spawned. Eggs in the nest. Sire is taking good care!
10/05/15: The fry hatched, looks like a medium spawn.
11/05/15: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
23/08/15: The fry are now 15 weeks old and developing nicely. Here an impression of some of the males I have jarred so far:

31/10/15: 25 weeks old.

10/12/15: 31 weeks old.

18/12/15: 32 weeks old.

15/01/16: 36 weeks old.
