The Sire is a steel blue based melano HMPK. His caudal has a pretty good D-shape but overall the form still needs a lot of work (especially the anal and dorsal finnage). The Dame a strongbodied steel blue black lace PK female with a smooth topline. The shape of the anal and dorsal is pretty good although the front rays could be longer. The caudal is rounded in appearance due to the short outer rays. The female is a full sibling to the male.  
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, smooth topline and balanced finnage. The offspring (F2) likely will be darkbody steel blue HMPK with a chance of melano black, black lace and marble to pop up.

05/11/16: The pair spawned.
06/11/16: The fry hatched.
07/11/16: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male. Seems to be quite a big spawn!
10/11/16: The fry is feeding well on vinegar eels and BBS.
08/01/17: 9 weeks old! There seem to be steel blues, black lace and melano blacks.

04/02/17: 13 weeks old.

27/02/17: 16 weeks old. Jarred the first male (two pictures of the same fish).

17/03/17: 18 weeks old. The melanoe HMPK male from above, with a black lace brother!

15/04/17: Two black females, now 23 weeks old.

20/04/17: Black females at 29 weeks of age.
