Dame: Black HM

The Sire is a red HM PK with a strong body and peduncle. Because of outcrosses to longfinned fish in his background his shape is not that of a perfect HM PK. The anal and ventrals are still too long but the caudal and the broad-bades dorsal already have a great shape. The Dame is an intense black HM and a proven plakat-carrier.
With this cross I hope to fix (1) the intense black color in my fishroom with the least iridescence and traces of red possible and (2) too boost the finnage in the direction of HM PK and (3) to fix the broad dorsal.
Based on my experience with a similar cross which was made in december 2009 (BT151209), where I crossed a sister of this male to a black PK, I expect
the offspring (F1) to be black/red bicolor, heterozygous black lace with a chance of some marbling. There is a chance of both long- and shortfinned halfmoons.

The Sire is also Father of BT070610 and BT051010.
The Dame is also mother of BT151110 and BT011210.

03/09/10: The pair spawned!
04/09/10: The fry has hatched!
06/09/10: Fry in the free-swimming stage. The Sire was removed. The fry is already feeding on newly hatched BBS.
01/10/10: The fry is now 4 weeks old and feeding well on chopped tubifex worms. The fry is already showing some red color in the finnage.

18/11/10: The fry is now 11 weeks old:

24/01/11: The fry is now 21 weeks old. Jarred several fish of this spawn. Colors range from black, black/red to marbles and cellophanes. The finnage needs a lot of work. Here some pictures of two jarred males, the male on the left has the most promising finnage of the spawn:
