The Sire is a blue/red HMPK which is a result of my outcross experiments He shows a long slender but strong body. The strongest point of this male is his big D-shaped caudal fin with nice long outer rays and sharp corners. The dorsal is nicely directed forward during flaring, but ideally could be a bit broader. The anal fin has a pretty good form, but ideally could be more parallel. The Dame is steel blue (opaque-carrier) HMPK  which was bred by my friend Jolanda Wisseborn and became 2nd placed in the Unicolor HMPK female class at the Holland Betta Show 2013. Her strongest characteristic is the broad dorsal fin. The caudal fin has a good spread and form but the outer rays ideally could be a slightly more straight. The snal fin is nicely parallel to the body. The body is strong but ideally could be a bit longer. Interestingly there is some overlap in the background of this fish with my own line, as her grandfather from her fathers side was bred by me.
With this cross I hope to fix the strong bodies, smooth topline, broad dorsals and balanced finnage in the offspring. The offspring (F1) will be both light- and darkbody iridescent HMPKs with a chance of some red wash.   

01/09/13: The pair spawned.
02/09/13: The fry hatched.
04/09/13: The fry entered the free-swimming stage. Removed the male.
11/09/13: The fry is feeding well on vinegar eels and BBS!
09/10/13: 6 weeks old.

05/11/13: 9 weeks old, the fry is moved to a bigger grow-out.

12/11/13: 11 weeks.

06/12/13: 14 weeks old and developing nicely!

14/12/13: Jarred the first males! Here two pictures of two promising young males now 15 weeks old:

10/03/14: Five fish (4 males, 1 female) of this spawn were send to the 1th European IBC Convention in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Two of them won a prize.

15/04/14: Four fish (1 male, 3 females) of this spawn were send to the 5th Betta Freaks Show @ Interkoi2014, Kalkar, Germany. Two of them won a prize:
- 2nd Halfmoon plakat female class - All colors (picture below)
- 4th Halfmoon plakat female class - All colors

01/06/14: Two potential breeder females.

04/08/14: A breeder male now 48 weeks old. He will retire in my fishroom.
